Dr. Tej A. Shah was born and raised in Dover, NH and has spent most of his life in the New England area. He graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in 2006 with a degree of Information Systems and Human-Computer Interaction. He then worked for Lockheed Martin as a software engineer making video games to help train the U.S. Marines.
Dr. Shah then did the most logical next move: go in to dentistry! He graduated from Tufts School of Dental Medicine in 2015 and has worked in many different dental clinics in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. Over time, he has learned to combine his software skills with dentistry to help create a new patient experience.
Because Dr. Shah had a different career before becoming a dentist, he is able to see dentistry in an outsiders’ point of view. Dr. Shah understands the need for full transparency between the doctor and the patient and the role that patient education plays in successful treatment. Dr. Shah is commuted to help the patient help themselves.
On his free time, Dr. Shah plays plenty of video games (his favorite being the Final Fantasy series), watch movies and design software.
Laura Waitz was born and raised in Somersworth, New Hampshire. She then resided in North Carolina for three years where her husband was stationed in the Marine Corps. When her husband’s contract with the Marine Corps had ended, they moved to Massachusetts to be near family.
She has worked as an office administrator in the front office of a small company down in North Carolina for a few years, and is excited to now be in the career field that she has been working towards. Laura has always been interested in the dental field, and has been working towards her acceptance into a dental hygiene school in the area.
In her free time you can find Laura spending time with her husband and dog, Opie. She loves to go hiking and camping in the warmer weather.
We are open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. That way, you don't have to take any time out of work to see us.
We don't have a "new patient" form; we have a "new patient interview". We find out your needs before your first visit. From there, we have an understanding what you are looking for and can schedule you accordingly.
By building the practice from scratch in the year 2020, we can design a practice that already has defenses against COVID rather than having it as an afterthought. We have a screening isolation room before patients are allowed in the waiting room. All of our operatories are a closed system that expunges air rather than recirculate it. This also allows us to put negative pressure in each room to prevent any cross-contamination. We also have a state of the art sterilization and a mouse/keyboard free EHR system not used anywhere else.
Clean a patient’s mouth: it is a clean for a day. Teach a patient to clean their own mouth, you have a clean mouth for a year. There is a surprising amount of work that you, the patient, can do on your own without our help and we want to teach you how. Our goal is to make sure you have all the tools and knowledge you need to stay cavity free.
Having a dental plan isn't all that it's cracked up to be. Although we accept most dental plans out there, we also provide our own “worry free” membership plans in which you pay a fixed amount per month. That way, you can plan your own finances without getting an unexpected bill.
